Light my fire! Swedish torch

Last month, I was introduced to a Swedish torch fire by my friend Jan. I was impressed by how simple it was to execute, the way the fire burned and wanted to share what I learned about with others interested in these types of skills/knowledge. 

Here's a diagram I did on scratch pad. 

1) Is the aerial view of how you'd make cuts on the log. Jan told me to use a dry wood.

2) He used a chainsaw to cut the log. This view shows the side cut.

Add tinder to the top. We used saw dust shaving.

Light it. It may take a few rounds of the saw dust. 

Fire starting

Key is you want the fire to begin to flame the center. Once that starts then you just let the burn do its thing. It burns down.

 Get a good burn on top

So it starts to burn the top center 

The wind started to pick up and it was starting to be a challenge to keep the flame alive. This was my idea to create a barrier with aluminum foil to create a wall around the fire. It worked!

We let the fire do its thing

Fire making smiles. I love learning something new!

After a while we added steak in a cast iron skillet. Fit perfectly on top.

The wind this night making the fire dance. We made sure to monitor it.

Keep watch, with any fire. Eventually the sides collapsed.

The fire lasted hours.

I look forward to trying this again on some cool outing. So glad I became aware of it, as its another great concept to know for the mental files.

Video 12: Fire made on 1st attempt! Wazoo Adventure bracelet demo/review

WAHOO Wazoo! Made my fire in seconds using the adventure bracelet first aid tinder packet, striker blade & firesteel! What a combo!!! Certainly one I'd want in a survival situation.

Safety first! For this demo I used aluminum for oil as part of my workstation. I demo that I use the little ceramic knife on the opposite end of the striker blade to cut arrange your van just a demo how sharp that little knife is. For my fire making, I found some little dry grass do you make a little miniature nest and put the first aid tinder material on top of it. Check out the video to see just how quickly that fire was lit in mere seconds! 

I continue to rave about this bracelet. I haven't seen a bracelet out there that incorporates 16 different tools within the bracelet itself. I'm a big fan of it now especially after doing these different demos and testing out the parts. I think of worse scenario if I lost everything or someone that I love lost all their gear I really want them to have something around the wrist like this that could help support their survival until they were rescued. 

That being said, the big key here is not only to have the equipment, but to also know how to use them. That takes practice, someone showing you, or you read up on it. I find this stuff very interesting, fun in the challenge, and fascinating. I'm having a blast with this opportunity through Wazoo's review challenge to test out some of their pieces, share some of my techniques with you and have fun while doing it!

Hi Adventurers! 

WooHoo! The Wazoo Adventure bracelet is torn down. Take a look as I walk through all the parts.

I hope you are having an awesome weekend! I am.:-) I have disassembled the Wazoo Adventure bracelet & even caught a fish after. I didn't catch the fish YET ;-) with Wazoo's supplies, I had my rod & lure today. Nonetheless, I'll be attempting catching a fish with Wazoo's adventure bracelet supplies!! Stay tuned.

Today I filmed a few videos around the bracelet tear down which was done with ease. Genius design of how the tools are integrated. I had no issues disassembling the bracelet.

Video 5: Wazoo Adventure Bracelet Review - Getting Fired UP!

Impromptu video to give a quick demo of the Firesteel & Striker blade in action! 

Friends, I just couldn't wait:-) Here's a brief demo of how awesome the firesteel and striker blade combo on Wazoos bracelet works. 

I wasn't planning on doing this demo but I just felt inspired. I'm confident I could've started a fire faster, but what I would tell you all is that I was actually holding a Q-tip, believe it or not, between my feet for this demo!:-) Talk about self-reliance videotaping! Not easy my friends, but I was up for the challenge and I did it!
